  1. Women’s Equality Day 2022 is celebrated all over the world to celebrate women’s empowerment and equality. This year, Women’s Equality Day has been celebrated on 26 August, 2022. Women’s Equality Day 2022 theme is “Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow”.
  2. International Dog Day is celebrated annually on 26 August to promote the adoption of dogs instead of buying them from pet shops. 
  3. Independence Day of Ukraine is celebrated on 24 August in commemoration of the Declaration of Independence of 1991.
  4. According to a Personnel Ministry order, distinguished scientist Dr. Samir V Kamat was appointed as Secretary of the Department of Defence Research and Development and Chairman of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
  5. The cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath approved the proposal of the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department to start the country’s first night safari in the capital Lucknow.
  6. The 20th edition of BioAsia 2023 will be hosted by the Government of Telangana, the premier event of BioAsia 2023 for the life sciences and health tech, on 24-26 February, 2023.  
  7. A 17-year-old pilot, Mack Rutherford became the youngest person to fly solo around the world in a small aircraft after he landed in Bulgaria, where his journey kicked off five months ago.

  9. Former Chief Economic Adviser, Krishnamurthy Subramanian has been appointed as the Executive Director for India at the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
  10. Indian men’s volleyball team has won the bronze medal by defeating Korea 3-2 in the 14th Asian U-18 Championship in Tehran, Iran.

  15.  Former German chancellor Angela Merkel has been awarded the 2022 UNESCO Peace Prize for “her efforts to welcome refugees”.
