  1. The National Sports Day or Rashtriya Khel Divas is celebrated on 29 August in India as a tribute to hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand who was born on this date in 1905.
  2. International Day against Nuclear Tests is observed on 29 August to raise awareness about the devastating effects of testing weapons.
  3. Indian Skipper, Rohit Sharma overtook New Zealand’s Martin Guptill to become the leading run-scorer in men’s T20 Internationals.
  4. In Gujarat’s Ahmedabad city, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially opened the pedestrian-only ‘Atal Bridge’ over the Sabarmati River.  
  5. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won the Belgian Formula 1 Grand Prix on 28 August, 2022.
  6. England’s James Anderson became the first-ever fast bowler to complete 950 wickets in international cricket on 27 August, 2022.
  7. The 13th edition of the 21-day India-USA Joint Exercise Vajra Prahar culminated at Bakloh in Himachal Pradesh on 28 August, 2022. 
  8. Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) and NITI Aayog will establish more than 500 Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs) in Jammu and Kashmir to nurture an innovative mindset among high school students.
  9.  The Union Govt has appointed Ananth Narayan Gopalakrishnan, a professor at SP Jain Institute, as a whole-time member of the Securities and Exchange Board on India (SEBI).
  10.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the ‘Smriti Van’ memorial, which celebrates the resilience shown by people during the devastating 2001 earthquake in the Kutch region of Gujarat.
  11.  Indian economist Pulapre Balakrishnan has authored a new book titled ‘India’s Economy from Nehru to Modi: A Brief History’. The book was published by Permanent Black.
  12.  Asok Kumar, the Director General of the National Mission for Clean Ganga, spoke about the ‘Arth Ganga’ model during his virtual keynote address to the Stockholm World Water Week 2022.
  13. The Indian Olympic Association has co-opted Adille Sumariwalla as the President of the association till fresh elections are held.
