  1. On the occasion of Teachers’ Day (5 September, 2022), PM Narendra Modi announced a new initiative, the development and upgradation of 14,500 schools across the country under the Pradhan Mantri Schools For Rising India (PM-SHRI) Yojana.
  2. Government of India has decided to rename the historic Rajpath and Central Vista lawns in the national capital Delhi as ‘Kartavya Path’.
  3. Indian Army Chief General Manoj Pande was conferred the title of Honorary General of the Nepali Army by Nepal President Bidya Devi Bhandari in Kathmandu.
  4. Binesh Kumar Tyagi took over as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) on 5 September, 2022.
  5. Grandmaster Aravindh Chithambaram won the 22nd Dubai Open Chess Tournament with 7.5 points. Seven Indians finished in the top 10 with R. Praggnanandhaa was in the second spot.
  6. Tripura becomes the first state in India to have the first modified bio-village at Daspara in the Sepahijala district.
  7. NITI Aayog has released the 4th progress report on the POSHAN (Prime Minister’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nutrition) Abhiyaan, titled ‘Preserving Progress on Nutrition in India: Poshan Abhiyaan in Pandemic Times’.
  8. On 4 September, 2022 Mushfiqur Rahim, former captain and vice-captain of Bangladesh National Cricket Team announced his retirement from T20 International cricket.
  9. The Indian cities of Nilambur and Thrissur in Kerala and Warangal in Telangana, have become India’s first entrants into the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities (GNLC).
  10. On 5 September, 2022 President of India Draupadi Murmu appointed Hon’ble Justice M. Duraiswamy as the acting Chief Justice of Madras High Court with effect from 13 September, 2022.
  11. UK Foreign Minister Liz Truss was elected as the next Prime Minister of Britain and leader of the governing Conservative Party on 5 September, 2022. She defeated Rishi Sunak, who is of Indian descent.
  12. The Karnataka govt has appointed actor Kiccha Sudeep as the brand ambassador for its ‘Punyakoti Dattu Yojana’.
  13. The former President of the United States Barack Obama won Emmy Award for his narration in the Netflix documentary series ‘Our Great National Parks’.
  14. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has inaugurated three new districts in the state, bringing the total number of districts in the state to 31.
  15. President Draupadi Murmu conferred the National Awards to 46 selected teachers on the occasion of Teachers’ Day 2022 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.
