CURRENT AFFAIRS OF 19th SEPTEMBER 2022

  1. Every year, the full week ending on the last Sunday of September is observed as the International Week of the Deaf (IWD). In 2022, IWD is being observed from 19 September to 25 September 2022. The theme of the 2022 International Week of Deaf People is “Building Inclusive Communities for All”.
  2. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya launched a 15-day blood donation drive on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. The blood donation drive is known as ‘Raktdaan Amrit Mahotsav’ which will continue till 1st October 2022 which is National Voluntary Blood Donation Day.  
  3. Union Law and Justice Minister, Kiren Rijiju inaugurated the Union of India Counsel (West Zone) Conference on ‘Emerging Legal Issues’ in Udaipur, Rajasthan on 17 September, 2022.
  4. The Telangana Government has announced naming the newly-built state secretariat complex after Dr. B R Ambedkar.
  5. India has hosted the 9th Session of Governing Body of the ‘International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture’ (ITPGRFA) from 19-24 September, 2022 in New Delhi.
  6. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar is visiting the US from 18 to 28 September, 2022 to participate in the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
  7. IndusInd Bank has re-appointed Sumant Kathpalia as Managing Director and  Chief Executive Officer of the bank for three years with effect from 24 March, 2023.
  8.  United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) appointed Vanessa Nakate, a 25-year-old climate activist from Uganda as the Goodwill Ambassador of the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
  9. The Reserve Bank of India has approved the appointment of Pralay Mondal as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of CSB Bank for three years.
  10. Bengaluru FC has won its maiden and the 131st edition of the Durand Cup by defeating Indian Super League (ISL) giants Mumbai City FC.
  11.  The 6th edition of the Japan-India Maritime Exercise ‘JIMEX’ hosted by the Indian Navy concluded in the Bay of Bengal on 17 September, 2022.
  12.  Indian Javelin thrower and Paralympics gold medallist Devendra Jhajharia clinched a silver medal in the World Para Athletics Grand Prix, in Morocco on 17 September, 2022.
  13. Jharkhand has become the third state after Bihar and Odisha in eastern India to have Food Security Atlas for its rural areas.
  14.  Eight African cheetahs has been moved from Namibia into their new habitat at the Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh, 17 September, on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.  
  15.  Federal Bank was ranked 63rd on the Best Workplaces in Asia 2022 and becomes the only bank in India to be listed by Great Place to Work, the global authority on workplace culture.
