  1. Kati Bihu, also known as Kongali, is an auspicious harvest festival and is annually celebrated across the state of Assam with joy and happiness. This year, the festival falls on the 18th of October, 2022.
  2. India has hosted the Shanghai Coordinators Organisation national coordinator meeting in Delhi. The SCO National Coordinators meeting took place on 17 and 18 October, 2022.

  4. NATO on 17 October, 2022 began its long-planned annual nuclear exercise ‘Steadfast Noon’ in north-western Europe which will run until 30 October.
  5. Sri Lankan author, Shehan Karunatilaka has won Booker Prize 2022 for fiction for his work ‘The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida’, about a journalist murdered amid the country’s sectarian strife.
  6. Union MoS for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar flagged off the first SemiconIndia FutureDesign roadshow in Gujarat on 17 October, 2022.
  7. Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema, a professional French footballer, has won the Men’s Ballon d’Or (Golden Ball Award) 2022 and becomes the 5th Frenchman to win the prize.
  8. Conservative leader Ulf Kristersson was on 17 October, 2022 elected as Sweden’s new Prime Minister.
  9. A new book titled ‘The Philosophy of Modern Song’ authored by Nobel laureate Bob Dylan and published by Simon and Schuster will be launched in November 2022.

  13. On 18 October, 2022 former Indian cricketer and a member in 1983 World Cup winning team Roger Binny was named as the 36th President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
  14. Jyothi Yarraji, an Indian Sprinter made history in the women’s 100m hurdles as she became the first Indian woman to run a sub-13s time to win the gold medal at the National Games 2022.
  15. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH), unveiled Japanese car maker Toyota’s first-of-its-kind pilot project on Flex Fuel-Strong Hybrid Electric Vehicle (FFV-SHEV) in India, which can run on 100% ethanol.
  16. Renowned Physician Dr Dilip Mahalanabis, who pioneered the use of oral rehydration therapy and the development of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS), passed away on 16 October, 2022.
