  1. ‘World Polio Day’ is observed every year on 24th October to raise awareness about the polio vaccination and eradication of polio from every corner of the world. The theme of 2022 is “World Polio Day 2022 and Beyond: A healthier future for mothers and children”.
  2. Disarmament Week is celebrated from 24th to 30th October each year. It is an initiative of United Nations and the key goal is to achieve world peace.
  3. ‘International Artist Day’ is annually celebrated on 25th October. This day is celebrated to give respect and honour the works of the artists around the world.  
  4. The Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) has announced former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh as their brand ambassador for the 3rd T20 World Cup for the Blind to be held in India in December 2022.
  5. India fines Google Rs.1337 crore. Google was penalised by India’s Competition Commission (CCI) for abusing its dominant position in numerous regions within the Android mobile device ecosystem.
  6. Cyclone Sitrang ploughed into heavily populated, low-lying parts of Bangladesh, killing at least thirty five people. In West Bengal’s coastal districts of South 24 Parganas, North 24 Parganas, and East Midnapore, the cyclone caused moderate to heavy rain on 24th October.
  7. Hollywood star Anna May Wong set to become first Asian American to feature on US currency.
  8. Rishi Sunak to take Oath as Prime Minister of United Kingdom and he will be the first British Prime Minister of Indian descent. At the age of 42, he has become the youngest PM of United Kingdom.
  9. India’s first ‘Migration Monitoring System’ has been inaugurated by the Maharashtra Women and Children Development Minister Mangalprabhat Lodha in Mumbai.
  10. The financial Action Task Force (FATF) has added Myanmar to the list of high-risk countries, known as the ‘black list’ with strategic deficiencies in the regimes to counter money laundering, terrorist financing, and proliferation financing.
  11. 16-year-old Aman Sehrawat made history in wrestling as he became the first Indian wrestler to win Gold Medal at the U-23 World Wrestling Championship in Spain.
  12. The Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) heaviest rocket LVM3 M2 which took off from the second launch pad (SLP) of the Satish Dhawan Space center (SHAR) has successfully orbited 36 satellites of UK-based OneWeb.
  13. The US Government has appointed senior foreign service officer Elizabeth Jones as the Charge d’Affaires ad interim at the US embassy in New Delhi.
  14. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) has issued an advisory stating that any kind of broadcasting be done only through Prasar Bharti.
  15. The Sukapaika River which stopped flowing 70 years ago, is set to be rejuvenated as the Odisha government has started working on its revival plan following a recent direction from the National Green Tribunal (NGT).
  16. Austrian billionaire Dietrich Mateschitz, the co-founder of energy drink company Red Bull and founder and owner of the Red Bull Formula One racing team, has passed away at the age of 78.
