  1. World Thrift Day is celebrated every year on 31 October, across the World. This year, the theme of World Thrift Day is “Saving prepares you for the future”.
  2. The National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) is celebrated every year on 31 October to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s first Home Minister.
  3. World Cities Day brings Urban October to an end on 31st October each year and was first celebrated in 2014. This year’s global observance is planned in Shanghai, China under the theme “Act Local to Go Global”.
  4. Halloween Day is observed on the 31st of October. Halloween Day 2022 theme is “Carving of Pumpkin”.
  5. The International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS), one of the largest scientific organisations of UNESCO, has recognised the Mawmluh Cave, located in the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya, as one of the first 100 IUGS geological heritage sites.
  6. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated India’s second Rashtriya Adarsh Veda Vidyalaya (RAVV) in Puri.
  7. The 4th edition of the Goa Maritime Symposium (GMS) has been conducted by the Naval War College (NWC) at Goa from 31 October to 1 November, 2022.
  8. Odisha Government has announced the introduction of disaster and pandemic management in the educational curricula of students from Class 4 to Graduation level.
  9. Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar has announced that an Electronics Manufacturing Cluster will be developed in the Ranjangaon area of Maharashtra.
  10. In Badminton, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty bagged the biggest title of their career, claiming the French Open Super 750 crown.
  11. The fourth Bangladesh Film Festival was inaugurated on 29 October, 2022 in Kolkata. The five day long festival is showcasing 37 popular Bangladeshi films including four documentaries and eight short films.
  12. Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has been elected as new President of Brazil. He defeated incumbent President Jair Bolsonaro in the election.
  13. Three flights connecting five cities of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur and Mizoram have been inaugurated by Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia .
  14. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh launched 75 new projects including the virtual launch of two helipads, one in Hanle and one in Thakung in Eastern Ladakh.
  15. Spain, defending champions won the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup against the first-time finalists Colombia.
