  1. In an effort to raise awareness, conserve and use water resources in an integrated manner, Union Ministry of Water Resources has organized the 7th edition of India Water Week from 1 to 5 November, 2022. The theme of 7th edition is “Water Security for Sustainable Development and Equity”.
  2. Every year, World Vegan Day is celebrated on 1 November. This year’s World Vegan Day theme is based on the animal rights-focused campaign “Future Normal”.
  3. On 1 November, seven Indian states — Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Karnataka, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh, as well as two Union Territories — Lakshadweep and Puducherry — celebrated their Foundation Day.
  4. The West Bengal government’s Lakshmir Bhandar scheme has bagged the SKOCH award in the women and child development category.
  5. On 28 October 2022, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Sugarcane Breeding Institute (ICAR-SBI) (Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu) appointed Dr G Hemaprabha, as the first woman director of ICAR SBI.
  6. Union Government on 31 October, 2022 granted approval to 42 companies including Nokia and Samsung, under the production linked incentive (PLI) scheme for telecom and networking products.
  7. The Income Tax Department launched the HARIT initiative on the occasion of National Unity Day (31 October) to increase greenery and create micro forests.
  8. The United Nations, Turkey and Ukraine on 31 October, 2022 agreed to implement a Black Sea grain deal despite Russia’s withdrawal from the pact.
  9. Uttar Pradesh’s Ranipur Tiger Reserve is the state’s fourth tiger reserve and 53rd tiger reserve of India. The tiger reserve is spread across over 529.36 sq km out of which the core area is 230.32 sq km and the buffer area is 299.05 sq km. Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate change Bhupendra Yadav confirmed the development.
  10. 2022 Formula 1 championship winner Max Verstappen on 30 October, 2022 won the Mexican Formula 1 Grand Prix to set a Formula One (F1) record of 14 victories from a single season and also scored the most points in the season.
  11. ResponsibleSteel Certification has been conferred for three production facilities-Steel Works, Tubes Division and Cold Rolling Mill (Bara) - of Tata Steels in Jamshedpur Steel Plant in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand.
  12. The WHO released the Global TB Report 2022 on 27 October, 2022. The Report notes the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the diagnosis, treatment and burden of disease for TB all over the world.
  13. French Author Rene Naba has authored a new bilingual book in both French and English titled ‘De La Nuclearisation de I’Asie’ (Nuclearisation of Asia). The book discusses the nuclear emergency and threat posed by the nexus of Pakistan and China.
  14. Former ISRO Chairman K Sivan, actors Dattanna, Avinash and Sihi Kahi Chandru are among 67 personalities who will be awarded Rajyotsava Award this year, by the Karnataka government.
  15. Padma Bhushan Awardee Jamshed J Irani, also known as the ‘Steel Man of India’, passed away aged 86 at Tata Main Hospital in Jamshedpur.
